Who this is for
Cairnmor consultancy is designed for families considering a significant financial commitment to help an adult child buy a home, particularly where the decisions involve more than simply providing a deposit.
It is most useful where the family wants to think carefully about affordability, the form and extent of support, ownership and mortgage structure, appropriate safeguards, what should be bought and how the agreed approach will be implemented.
Experience behind the consultancy
Cairnmor was founded by Calum Galbraith, who brings in excess of 25 years’ experience across finance, business and property, including roles with BlackRock, HSBC’s institutional equities business, HSBC Bank International in Jersey and Jardine Lloyd Thompson (now part of Marsh). Calum bought his first property in Edinburgh in 1997 using guarantor finance and has invested in residential property ever since. He is the author of Step Forward: A Smarter Way onto the Property Ladder, Solo or Supported.
Where specialist advice is needed
Cairnmor provides independent consultancy, decision support and implementation guidance. It does not provide regulated mortgage, investment, tax or legal advice. Where specialist advice is required, clients should obtain it from appropriately qualified or authorised professionals. Property finding is not included unless expressly agreed.
